Criminal records searches are available Nationwide, with International searches also available. Searches at the county level are suggested; however, in some cases, a statewide search is accessible. We conduct searches at both the felony and misdemeanor level whenever possible (some counties provide searches at the felony level only). Our researchers conduct on-site investigations of court documents; this is not a "database" search. All results are generally available within 24-72 hours, and again, we have access to every county nationwide.

Our researchers take diligent measures to ensure quality and timely information, and these measures include monthly audits, on-site court visits to review search procedures, and internal proof procedures.

National Criminal Records Search
This instant search includes records from all 50 states. Records provided include convictions, arrests, inmate records and sexual offender records, and vary by state (i.e., six states only provide sexual offender records). This search, while valuable due to the scope of the area searched, is only recommended to be used in conjunction with county criminal records searches.

Federal Criminal Records
Federal courts are divided by state and then by district, however, a statewide search can be conducted by searching the corresponding federal district courts throughout the specified state. Our standard federal criminal statewide search is ten years.

All criminal records returned to Ascertain with a "match" to the subject undergo further research by Ascertain to ensure:

• It is an exact match to the applicant;
• It resulted in a criminal conviction;
• The reporting of the record does not violate FCRA guidelines or any other state law. Many states have specific laws related to the reporting of criminal records. For example, five states limit the use of misdemeanor records, so we cannot report misdemeanor records in those states.
